Morehouse College Alumni Association Cincinnati / Dayton Chapter held an info session luncheon that engaged some amazing young men and their families at the home of Morehouse alum, Jermaine Newman ‘01, on May 14, 2022.  Just to name a few area high schools that were represented at the info session were Walnut Hills, Taft, Princeton, SCPA and St Xavier High School.  There were two incoming freshmen that attended along with alums like Myles Whitemore, Aaron Washington-Childs who shared their personal college experiences in an engaging group format, which included Q & A  for prospective students.  Interim Director of Undergraduate Admissions , Descatur Potier, presented admissions content along with what’s required to qualify for admissions and also addressed what’s the student experience like at Morehouse College. On Friday, January 10, 2021 – Men of Morehouse Are Dreaming Big While Looking to Make an Impact in the Cincinnati / Dayton Community

To Kick Off the Martin Luther King Holiday Weekend of Events, The Local Chapter of the Morehouse College National Alumni Association (MCNAA) will be partnering up with the MLK Coalition to Keep the Legacy of Dr. King’s Dream Alive and Thriving. 

It has been almost 53 years ago since Dr. King lost his life advocating for marginalized communities in America.  As we celebrate his life and legacy, Dr. King helped to defend and support all communities against injustices that plagued America.  Fast forward to 2021, MCNAA carries the torch to defend against similar types of injustices that are as pervasive today as it was back then.  Dr. King said, “There is nothing quite so effective as the refusal to cooperate with the forces and institutions which perpetuate evil in our communities.”  As men of the MCNAA we stand for leveling the playing field for all people.  We stand against forces like systemic racism, health and wealth inequities and other injustices.  “Et Facta Est Lux,” in English means “Let there be light” and is the motto for our historical and prestigious college which was founded to educate young African American men.  Morehouse College was founded two years after the Civil War in 1867 and its ideal still has purpose in today’s environment.  As the struggle to battle against injustice continues, the MCNAA knows that great men serve and that’s why we want to have an impact and serve the best interest of the Cincinnati-Dayton community.  We want to assist our community by supporting the educational journey of our young African American men to a better life.  As a distinguished alumnus of Morehouse College Dr. King once said, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” The local MCNAA chapter supports the MLK Coalition and Dr. King’s legacy.
